The institute is envisaged to function as a Centre of Excellence in water and land management research in general and On-farm water management in particular. The research areas are
- 1.Baseline studies for improving water use efficiency of Irrigations Projects
- 2.Application of Models, software, modern tools and modelling techniques for land water resource assessment, characterization, planning and management.
- 3.On-farm research on water saving, land & water management technologies/techniques for paddy and irrigated dry crops
- Crop diversification in canal command areas
- 4.The strategies and technologies/techniques for equitable distribution water at canal networks for increasing water use efficiency and water productivity
- 5.Research studies on Minor Irrigation works/ Mission Kakatiya tanks, Lift Irrigation projects, and piped irrigation projects and any other Government schemes/programmes for efficient planning and management of water resources.
